Rahul Gandhi was speaking when a guy interrupted him and urged him to continue in Hindi without using a translator. Rahul Gandhi had been resorting to his translator to interpret his Hindi lines into Gujarati prior to the interruption.
We’ll understand you if you speak Hindi. The man yelled from in the center of the crowd, “We don’t need translation.
Rahul Gandhi stopped after hearing the request and questioned if Hindi would actually be acceptable. The question “Chalega Hindi?” was posed by Rahul Gandhi. The crowd cheered him on, the speech continued after the translator had been taken off the stage.
He said “They call you ‘Vanvasi’. They do not say you are the first owners of India, but that you live in the jungle. Do you see the difference? It means they do not want you to live in cities; they do not want that your children become engineers, doctors, learn to fly planes, speak English.
In order to support his party’s bid to end its nearly three-decade run in the opposition in the BJP-ruled state in the upcoming Assembly election, Rahul Gandhi took a break from his Bharat Jodo Yatra, which is currently passing through Maharashtra, and travelled to Gujarat. There, he spoke to a group of tribal’s at Mahuva in the Surat district.
While visiting Gujarat, Rahul Gandhi criticized the state’s Bharatiya Janata Party-led administration over the Morbi disaster, which resulted in the deaths of hundreds of people. Rahul Gandhi said that the “true criminals” of the tragic Morbi bridge collapse were not brought to justice.
“When media questioned me about the Morbi disaster, I replied that there were around 150 fatalities and that this was not a political matter, thus I would refrain from commenting. However, the question of why no FIR was filed and no actions were taken against those responsible for the Morbi tragedy is being raised now.” Gandhi Rahul enquired.
“Because they have a good connection with the BJP, would nothing bad happen to them? Added the Congress MP They detained the chowkidars (watchmen), but nothing has been done to stop the real offenders.”
