Shocking Case Of Child Assault Reported In Prayagraj

A serious case of sexual assault on a minor has come to light in the Gangnagar zone of Mauaima, Prayagraj, involving a five-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy from the same neighbourhood.

The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday evening when the young girl was playing outside her home unattended, while her parents were working in the fields harvesting crops.

According to preliminary reports, the accused allegedly lured the child to his house under the pretext of giving her candy, where the assault took place. The case has sparked concern among residents about child safety and supervision.

Authorities reported that the 15-year-old boy allegedly coaxed the five-year-old girl into his home using sweets as a lure.

Once inside, he is said to have committed the assault on the child. During the attack, the girl sustained injuries and was left bleeding. Following the incident, the accused reportedly fled the scene, leaving the victim in distress.

Local police have registered the case, are investigating the circumstances, and have confirmed that medical staff are treating the child.

FIR Registered under the POSCO Act

Following a complaint by the girl’s parents, the Mauaima police registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and other relevant provisions.

Police apprehended the accused on Sunday, and he reportedly admitted to the offence during questioning.

A nearby hospital has admitted the young victim, and medical staff are providing her with comprehensive treatment and care for the injuries she sustained during the assault.

Police officials are treating the case with the utmost seriousness and are actively conducting legal proceedings.

Authorities will pursue the matter in strict accordance with the law, including provisions under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, ensuring that they serve justice while safeguarding the rights and welfare of the minor.

The case has highlighted serious concerns about child safety, prompting a broader discussion on the role of guardians, families, and communities in ensuring the well-being of minors.

Authorities have underlined the need for constant vigilance and supervision, particularly when young children are playing outdoors or in unsupervised settings.

They have also urged parents and local communities to take proactive steps, including educating children about potential risks, monitoring their activities, and fostering an environment where minors feel safe to report any threats.

The incident serves as a reminder of the critical importance of preventive measures and community awareness in safeguarding children from harm.
