The central government informed the Delhi High Court that Shahzadi, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, was executed in the UAE on February 15. Her last rites will take place on March 5. Following this update, the court dismissed the petition filed by her father.
Additional Solicitor General Chetan Sharma told the court that officials provided all possible assistance. Shahzadi’s father had sought the Ministry of External Affairs’ intervention to stop her execution. The Indian Embassy in UAE was officially notified on February 28, 2025, that she had been sentenced to death.
In September 2024, Shahzadi’s father, Shabbir, revealed in Banda that his daughter had warned she could be hanged anytime after September 20. He had sent emails to President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, pleading to save her life.
Uzair, a resident of Agra, took Shahzadi to the UAE, promising a better life. He allegedly sold her to an Agra-based couple. She started working for a family in August 2022 as a caretaker for their child.
The child was vaccinated on December 7, 2022, but died the same day. The family accused Shahzadi of being responsible. She was arrested and later sentenced to death.
Before her execution, she called her family one last time and urged them to withdraw a case registered against her opponents in Banda.
