Justice Chandra Dhari Singh Bids Farewell To Delhi High Court As He Returns To Allahabad High Court

Justice Chandra Dhari Singh of the Delhi High Court bid farewell to the court as the Central Government transferred him back to his original posting at the Allahabad High Court.

In his heartfelt farewell speech, Justice Singh emphasized that delivering justice is not a mechanical task but requires a balance between the mind and the heart.

He expressed his gratitude to the judges of the Delhi High Court, calling himself fortunate to have worked with colleagues who became like family and friends, standing by him at every step.

Justice Singh expressed that although he was leaving the Delhi High Court, he was not taking away just memories but also hope and inspiration.

He highlighted that the court’s unwavering commitment to upholding the Constitution and serving the people left him inspired.

He described the purpose of justice as peaceful and noted that the law always has a courageous soul ready to pursue that purpose.

A Humble Beginning And Personal Reflections

Reflecting on his journey, Justice Singh shared that serving as a Justice in the Delhi High Court was the greatest honor of his life.

Hailing from Sultanpur, a small town in Uttar Pradesh, he proudly mentioned that he was the first generation in his family to practice law.

He also recalled the struggles and challenges he faced along the way, saying, “Nothing comes easy in life. Every person has their share of struggles, but these challenges are the beauty of life.”

He expressed his gratitude for the guidance, good wishes, and support that helped him overcome obstacles in his career.

Praise For The High Court Bar Association

Justice Singh also took the opportunity to praise the Delhi High Court Bar Association, describing it as one of the most vibrant and dynamic associations in the country.

He expressed his admiration for the energy and professionalism that the association brought to the legal community.

A Distinguished Legal Career

Justice Singh graduated in law from Delhi University in 1993 and initially practiced as an advocate-on-record in the Supreme Court.

Over the years, he built a distinguished legal career, practicing in Allahabad High Court, its Lucknow Bench, Delhi High Court, and various other high courts and lower courts.

He was appointed as an additional judge in Allahabad High Court on September 22, 2017, and became a permanent judge there on September 6, 2019. On October 11, 2021, he was transferred to the Delhi High Court.

Words Of Wisdom For Young Lawyers

In his farewell speech, Justice Singh shared valuable advice with young lawyers, urging them to maintain their enthusiasm and perseverance.

He encouraged them to embrace challenges, stating that the difficulties they face will ultimately shape their careers. He also reminded them that even if they stand alone in the pursuit of what is just, they should remain proud and continue moving forward.

Justice Singh concluded his speech by thanking the staff and registry of the Delhi High Court for their unwavering support throughout his tenure.

His farewell was a moment of reflection on his journey, his dedication to justice, and the relationships he forged during his time at the High Court.
