Delhi High Court grants a key request from industrialist Sanjay Kapoor’s third wife, Priya Kapoor, by restraining the media from publishing information regarding Kapoor’s property.
The court instructs that all property-related details be submitted in sealed envelopes to ensure confidentiality.
The court further directs all concerned parties, including the children of actress Karishma Kapoor, to receive copies of the property information. Additionally, one copy of Sanjay Kapoor’s will is to be provided to his mother, Rani Kapoor.
During the hearing, Priya Kapoor’s counsel stresses that any details shared in court should not enter the public domain.
“It is up to the court to decide how to implement this, but at the very least, there should be no discussion outside this matter. If all parties agree, these details should remain confidential,” the lawyer says.
In contrast, senior lawyer Mahesh Jethmalani, representing Karishma Kapoor’s children, opposes the media gag. He argues that the court should not impose such restrictions and notes that the parties previously debated the matter publicly, including discussions about the children’s share in the RK Trust, even though it does not directly relate to this private property dispute.
Justice Jyoti Singh emphasises that the court’s primary concern is safeguarding the interests of all parties.
“Our focus today is to ensure that everyone’s interests remain protected and that no information reaches the public domain. Please suggest a method to maintain confidentiality,” the judge says, signalling the court’s careful approach to balancing privacy with transparency.
The decision reflects the sensitive nature of high-profile family disputes and the court’s intent to prevent unnecessary public exposure.
The court continues to closely monitor the matter and will hold further hearings to ensure compliance and secure handling of all estate-related documents.
