On Saturday, a Delhi court issued a notice to businessman Robert Vadra, the husband of Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, in connection with a land deal case in Shikohpur, Gurugram.
The notice was issued after the Rouse Avenue Court took cognisance of a charge sheet filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case.
A total of 11 people, including Vadra, have been named in the charge sheet.
Vadra is expected to present his response on 28 August. The next hearing in the case is also scheduled for the same day.
The ED alleges that 3.53 acres of land in Shikohpur were acquired through illegal means. It also claims that the proceeds of the crime were routed through multiple companies linked to Robert Vadra.
As part of the investigation, 43 properties worth ₹37.64 crore, connected to Vadra and his company, M/s Sky Light Hospitality Pvt Ltd, have been attached.
The case stems from a 2008 FIR filed by the Gurugram Police. It alleges that the land was bought from M/s Onkareshwar Properties Pvt Ltd for ₹7.5 crore using a false declaration.
In 2012, the same land was sold to DLF Ltd for Rs 58 crore. This raised concerns about the nature and legitimacy of the transaction.
The issue grew more controversial after senior Haryana bureaucrat Ashok Khemka intervened. He cancelled the land mutation, citing violations of state regulations, which further intensified the debate around the deal.
His decision brought the deal into the spotlight and led to extended legal scrutiny.
