Ajinkya Rahane returns to team India for WCT
Recently, India’s star hitter Ajinkya Rahane got back into the longest-playing category of cricket as he was named in the crew for the World Test Title Championship. Since Rahane has been selected to take the place of Shreyas Iyer, it is likely that he will also be in the starting XI; A back operation ruled out the latter. In addition, Suryakumar Yadav, who had been Iyer’s initial replacement during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, has not been selected for the team.
The India batsman took to his official LinkedIn profile as Rahane returned to the Test team to reflect on his cricketing career and his struggles.
“In my vocation as an expert cricketer, I have understood that the excursion isn’t generally going great. There are minutes when things don’t go according to plan, and it becomes enticing to come by, hindered by the outcome. In any case, I have discovered that it is fundamental to adhere to the cycle and not let the result influence our concentration,” Rahane wrote on his profile.
“As I reflect on my career, I realize that the times when I stuck with the process despite the negative outcome were the most instructive. These were the experiences that supported my development as a person and as a cricketer. I understood that the times when I let the outcome direct my methodology were not my best minutes.”
After Shreyas Iyer missed the main event due to a back injury, Rahane’s comeback after 15 months was predictable. For a stress fracture in his lower back, Iyer has had surgery in the UK.
Rahane played the remainder of his 82 Tests in January 2022 against South Africa in Cape Town.
