Sunil Gavaskar Runs Through CSK’s Celebratory Lap To Take MS Dhoni’s Autograph, Watch Here

After MS Dhoni led his troops for one final time at the Chepauk during the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Sunil Gavaskar, echoing the sentiment of millions of fans, said, “Players like him come once in a century, not even once in a generation.” In the IPL 2023, former champions CSK faced off against bitter rivals Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Former India captain Dhoni was a leader, a master tactician, and a true legend of the game.

After KKR’s memorable victory over CSK in the IPL 2023 at Chepauk, Dhoni, who many believe is playing his final season in the biggest event in domestic cricket, was greeted by a huge number of cricket fans. Batting legend Gavaskar ran up to Dhoni for a special autograph while the packed Chepauk went crazy. Following the match, the charismatic leader of the Yellow Brigade signed Gavaskar’s shirt as Dhoni responded to the batsman’s request with an incredible gesture. Dhoni’s internet-breaking act, which earned him the nickname Thala, quickly became the talk of the town.

CSK celebrates their last league match in Chennai with fans

Dhoni was seen hitting some balls into the Chepauk crowd to show his appreciation to the home fans. Before and even after CSK’s final home game in the IPL 2023, Thala was the focus of all attention, tossing jerseys and shaking hands with police officers at the Chepauk. After the Nitish Rana-led KKR upstaged the four-time champions in their backyard, Dhoni’s CSK also performed a special lap of honor at the Chepauk.

Key Highlights of CSK vs KKR

Dhoni stayed unbeaten on 2 off 3 balls with on-melody Shivam Dube (48) as CSK posted 144-6 out of 20 in the wake of batting first in their last home round of the year. Rana’s (57*) and Rinku Singh’s (54) half-centuries led KKR to their first victory over CSK in a decade at the Chepauk.
