Mumbai Indians achieved a score of 172 when they batted first, helped along by a stunning performance from Tilak. However, Bangalore won the night because Faf and Virat only made sixes and fours rain in the stadium. Virat Kohli scored 82 runs, including six 4s and five 6s, in an unbeaten performance. On the other hand, Faf performed exceptionally well both with his bat and in the field. The Royal Challengers captain scored 73 runs, including five 4s and six 6s.
Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli destroyed their bowlers to complete the chase of 172 runs in 16.2 overs, proving that Mumbai were no match for the Bengaluru franchise.
After the team’s defeat, Rohit said, “In the first six overs, we did not have a great start with the bat. However, Tilak’s and the efforts of a few other batters were outstanding. We just didn’t do enough with the ball, though. It was an excellent pitch for bats. Tilak Verma: “He is a positive individual, very skilled too. He played some shots with a lot of bravery. Thank you, Tilak, for helping us reach a competitive total. It was an excellent batting surface. We didn’t set any goals, but we got to 170 despite not even hitting half of our potential. The ideal number of runs would have been between 30 and 40.
