Yogi Government Approves Transformative Projects During Maha Kumbh Cabinet Meeting

In a historic Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday along the Triveni banks during Maha Kumbh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s government approved transformative projects to drive development across Uttar Pradesh.

Key decisions however include creating two new development regions modeled after the State Capital Region, constructing two new expressways, and building major bridges over the Ganga and Yamuna rivers to enhance connectivity.

Projects To Boost Regional Development

The Cabinet approved the establishment of the ‘Prayagraj-Chitrakoot Development Region’, which will focus on religious, cultural, and tourism-based growth.

This initiative will likely generate employment opportunities and boost economic development in districts like Chitrakoot, Prayagraj, and Mirzapur.

Additionally, the ‘Varanasi-Vindhya Development Region’ will also prioritize transforming the area into a hub for religious tourism and cultural heritage while fostering economic activities.

Major Connectivity Projects

The Ganga Expressway will be extended from Prayagraj to Mirzapur, Bhadohi, Varanasi, Chandauli, and Ghazipur, connecting seamlessly with the Purvanchal Expressway.

A new link expressway will also connect Varanasi, Chandauli, and Sonbhadra. Collectively, these routes will be named the ‘Prayagraj-Vindhya-Kashi Expressway’.

The Cabinet further approved a new six-lane bridge parallel to the Signature Bridge over the Yamuna River and a four-lane bridge connecting Salori-Hetapatti-Jhunsi.

These developments however aim to enhance connectivity between Prayagraj and key districts like Mirzapur, Jaunpur, and Varanasi.

Additional Approvals

Aerospace & Defence Policy 2024: Focused on job creation and innovation in the defense sector.

Municipal Bonds: Approval for Prayagraj, Varanasi, and Agra municipal corporations to issue bonds, backed by credit enhancement funds.

Education Upgrades: Approval for upgrading 62 Government ITIs and establishing five Centers for Innovation and Training with Tata Technology Limited’s support.

Medical College In Balrampur: Conversion of the KGMU Satellite Center into an Autonomous State Medical College with 1,394 new posts created.

PPP Medical Colleges: Approval for running medical colleges in Hathras, Baghpat, and Kasganj under the Public-Private Partnership model.

Smartphone Distribution: Finalization of the bid document under the Swami Vivekananda Yuva Sashaktikaran Yojana to provide free smartphones to skilled youth.

Industrial Projects For Economic Growth

The Cabinet approved special facilities and concessions under the Uttar Pradesh Industrial Investment and Employment Promotion Policy 2022.

This includes capital subsidies for industrial projects in Moradabad and Mirzapur.

With these transformative initiatives, the Yogi government continues to emphasize infrastructure, connectivity, education, and economic development to ensure holistic progress for Uttar Pradesh.
