Yogi Cabinet Approves Key Proposals To Boost Development & Employment In Uttar Pradesh

In a Cabinet meeting chaired by CM Yogi Adityanath in Prayagraj, the Uttar Pradesh government approved 10 major proposals aimed at accelerating the state’s development.

Among the highlights was the introduction of the Aerospace and Defence Unit and Employment Promotion Policy 2024, designed to position Uttar Pradesh as a leader in the sector.

Yogi Cabinet Approves Aerospace & Defence Policy

The newly launched policy targets Rs 50,000 crore in investments and aims to create direct employment opportunities for 1 lakh youth.

It also focuses on establishing Uttar Pradesh as a hub for aerospace and defence (A&D) manufacturing by developing a robust ecosystem within the UP Defence Industrial Corridor (UPDIC).

Key features of the policy include:

• Subsidies for land, capital, and transportation.
• Establishment of A&D common facility centers to support startups and MSMEs.
• Promotion of research, innovation, and AI development centers in the A&D sector.

The policy however aligns with India’s self-reliance vision in defence and aims to significantly boost A&D exports and production.

Yogi Cabinet Sanctions FDI & Industrial Investment Reforms

The Cabinet also approved a new FDI Policy to attract foreign industries by offering up to 80% land subsidies.

Reforms in the UP Industrial Investment and Employment Promotion Policy will likely propel industrial and economic growth in the state.

Yogi Cabinet Expands Healthcare & Medical Education Facilities

• Balrampur Medical College: The Cabinet approved the transfer of the 166-bed Government Combined Hospital in Balrampur to establish the Autonomous State Medical College, Balrampur. This initiative will enhance specialized healthcare and create medical education opportunities. Over 1,394 new posts have been created to facilitate the college’s operation.
• Medical Colleges In Underserved Districts: Approval was granted to operate medical colleges in Hathras, Baghpat, and Kasganj under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. This initiative however aims to provide equitable access to healthcare and medical education in districts currently lacking such facilities.

Land Subsidy For Ashok Leyland Project

The Yogi government approved a Rs 106.51 crore subsidy under the Incentive Policy 2023 for land allotted to Ashok Leyland.

The project, which includes a facility for producing 2,500 buses annually and a center of excellence, is estimated to cost Rs 186 crore.

Free Smartphones for Youth Empowerment

Under the Swami Vivekananda Yuva Sashaktikaran Yojana, the government will procure 25 lakh smartphones for distribution to youth in higher education, technical training, and ITI programs.

A budget of Rs 4,000 crore has also allocated for the initiative, which aims to empower youth with technological skills.

Incentives For Mega Projects

The Cabinet approved the recommendations of the High-Level Authorized Committee (HLEC), granting:

• Rs 250 crore as a capital subsidy to Triveni Engineering and Industries Ltd in Moradabad.
• Rs 10,749 crore as SGST reimbursement for Gallant Ispat Ltd in Mirzapur.

These steps however aim to attract large-scale industrial investments to the state.

Maha Kumbh 2025 Preparations

The Cabinet meeting, held at the Triveni Complex in Prayagraj, also highlighted ongoing preparations for Maha Kumbh 2025, ensuring infrastructure and services are in place for the grand event.

The Yogi government’s decisions reflect its focus on industrial growth, employment generation, healthcare expansion, and youth empowerment, positioning Uttar Pradesh as a leader in development and innovation.
