Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has sharply criticized the coalition between the National Conference (NC) and Congress, accusing them of endangering national security and undermining commitment to the Indian Constitution.
In a statement on Saturday, Adityanath questioned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi about his party’s stance on the NC’s proposal for a separate flag for Jammu and Kashmir.
“I want to ask Rahul Gandhi if Congress supports the National Conference’s declaration of a separate flag for Jammu and Kashmir,” Adityanath stated, highlighting what he perceives as a troubling divergence from national unity.
The UP Chief Minister expressed concern over the alliance’s potential implications, stating, “Elections have been announced for the Jammu and Kashmir assembly. This election is crucial not only for the people of J&K but for all Indians who cherish democracy.”
He labeled the coalition between Congress, which leads the INDI Alliance, and the Abdullah family’s National Conference as indicative of an anti-national agenda.
Adityanath criticized the coalition’s recent manifesto, suggesting it exacerbates national security risks and questions the parties’ adherence to constitutional principles.
“The coalition raises serious concerns about national security and their commitment to the Indian Constitution,” he further asserted.
Further questioning the intentions behind the coalition’s promises, Adityanath pointed to the National Conference’s plan to engage in trade over the Line of Control as outlined in their campaign.
He urged Rahul Gandhi to clarify his position on these controversial issues, asserting that the alliance’s proposals pose significant risks to national cohesion and security.
