The Yogi Adityanath government has announced that it will host ‘The Bodhi Yatra 2024’ in New Delhi on 28 June, aiming to boost Buddhist pilgrimage tourism and attract devotees and tourists globally to Uttar Pradesh’s renowned Buddhist sites.
According to a government spokesman, this day-long event will spotlight the extraordinary life journey of Lord Buddha through Uttar Pradesh’s rich Buddhist heritage.
The Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department has already started preparing for the event, which is to highlight the state’s significant contributions to Buddhist art and culture.
Various artistic presentations will emphasize the state’s historical connection and the profound importance of Lord Buddha.
The event promises to be an international affair, with invitations extended to guests from both within India and abroad.
‘The Bodhi Yatra’ event will feature a special dinner planned in their honor, with interactive cultural sessions as a key feature.
As per reports, the venue for the programme will finalised shortly.
To ensure the success of ‘The Bodhi Yatra 2024’, the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department has issued a request for proposal (RFP) to attract applications from event management agencies.
The selected agency, chosen through an e-tender process, will have the critical task of meticulously showcasing the Buddhist circuit sites in Uttar Pradesh during the event.
Meanwhile, the responsibilities of the selected event management agency will be extensive. They will manage the cultural evening stage, branding and decoration, flower arrangements, and venue branding.
Additionally, they will organize the supply and distribution of souvenir kits and arrange for artists, anchors, audience seating, technical support, maintenance, and all necessary manpower for the cultural sessions.
Coordination with departmental officials will be essential, as the agency will also be responsible for ensuring the setup of audio, lighting, sound systems, LED screens, and video supply for the event.
‘The Bodhi Yatra 2024’ promises to be a significant event in promoting Uttar Pradesh’s Buddhist heritage on a global platform, enhancing the state’s profile as a key destination for Buddhist pilgrimage tourism.
