Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said the world witnessed “Bharat’s remarkable capabilities” in artificial intelligence during the recently concluded AI Impact Summit at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
India hosted the AI Impact Summit 2026 from February 16 to 20, focusing on human-centric AI, global cooperation and ethical frameworks such as the New Delhi Declaration.
Addressing the 131st episode of his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat, PM Modi said, “This is a strong platform to bring forth achievements of the country and its people. One such achievement was recently seen during the AI Impact Summit that was held in Delhi. Leaders, industrialists, innovators and people from the start-up sectors arrived in the Bharat Mandapam for this summit.”
He described the summit as a turning point in the global use of AI and said he had the opportunity to meet world and technology leaders while showcasing several innovations.
The Prime Minister noted that two exhibits particularly impressed global leaders. One, displayed at the AMUL booth, demonstrated how AI is helping dairy workers manage livestock and businesses. The second focused on preserving culture and ancient knowledge for future generations.
Referring to the display of the ancient text Sushruta Samhita, PM Modi said, “The first step showed how the image quality of the manuscripts was enhanced with the help of technology to make them readable. In the second step, this text image was made machine-readable. In the next step, the text was read by an AI Avatar. And then, in the next step, we also showed how this evaluation of knowledge can be translated into Indian and foreign languages with the help of technology.”
“The world leaders showed great interest in learning about Bharat’s ancient knowledge through a modern avatar,” he added.
PM Modi said the summit was the largest of its kind and noted the enthusiasm among youth participants. He also highlighted the launch of three ‘Made in India’ AI models during the event.
“The world witnessed Bharat’s remarkable capabilities in the field of AI,” he said, congratulating participating nations on the summit’s success.
