Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday praised Indian pilot Captain Smit Machchhar for his bravery and said the world would soon talk about Made-in-India aircraft just as it is recognising Indian pilots.
Addressing the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sabha in New Delhi, PM Modi recalled Captain Machchhar’s actions during an alleged in-flight hijacking on September 30.
The pilot has received global praise for thwarting the incident and helping save more than 170 lives.
PM Modi said the global recognition of an Indian pilot reflected India’s growing capabilities. He expressed confidence that Made-in-India aircraft would gain international recognition in the future.
Prime Minister said India could achieve such ambitions only through visionary policies and sustained efforts.
PM Modi urged citizens to use the country’s vast human potential and said India’s 140 crore people represented solutions to its challenges.
Highlighting India’s youth, PM Modi called its young population a historic opportunity and urged progress in startups, sports, space, genetics, quantum computing and AI. He said India should build world-class universities, become a global innovation hub and make its products and agricultural produce sought worldwide. He further called for Indian solutions to climate change, water governance and poverty to gain global acceptance.
PM Modi said collective efforts must focus on building a Viksit Bharat, with citizens uniting their energy and aspirations towards a common national goal.
Recalling India’s freedom struggle, the Prime Minister said earlier generations sacrificed their lives for independence, while citizens today must live with a commitment to building a developed India.
PM Modi said individual progress would strengthen the country and urged citizens to dedicate their hard work, innovation, research and creativity to the nation.
