In the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the nation celebrated Rashtriya Ekta Diwas on the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel with a grand parade at Ekta Nagar, Gujarat. The event showcased India’s unity in diversity and reaffirmed the ideals of women’s empowerment and inclusive leadership.
The highlight of the ceremony was the active leadership of women officers who commanded several contingents, reflecting the government’s commitment to gender equality and national integration. From security forces to cultural units, women led the way, symbolising strength, discipline, and empowerment in action.
The parade featured a wide range of participating contingents from across the country. These included the Border Security Force (BSF) and its band, as well as the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and its band also took part in the event. Police units from Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Maharashtra, Kerala, and Tripura added to the vibrant display of unity.
Other participating forces included the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) band, the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) band, the Delhi Police band, and the NCC foot contingent. Mounted and canine units, along with a camel contingent, a camel-mounted band, and a cleaning machine contingent, represented civic responsibility and modernisation.
Each unit displayed remarkable discipline, coordination, and national pride, capturing the themes of unity, peace, and women’s empowerment. PM Modi took the salute from all contingents, commending their efforts in representing the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’.
The celebration extended beyond Ekta Nagar as Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel flagged off the ‘Sardar@150 Unity March’ in Ahmedabad. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation organised the event to commemorate Sardar Patel’s 150th birth anniversary.
The Chief Minister paid floral tributes to Sardar Patel’s statue at Sardar Patel Colony in Naranpura before leading the march, which began at 7:30 AM and concluded at the Mahatma Gandhi statue on Ashram Road. The procession passed through Sardar Patel Stadium Road and CG Road, attracting enthusiastic public participation.
Remembering Sardar Patel’s historic role in uniting 562 princely states after independence, CM Patel said, “It was Sardar Patel who laid the foundation of a united India.” He added that under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, Union Home Minister Amit Shah carried forward Sardar Patel’s legacy. The abrogation of Article 370 further strengthened India’s national unity.
He added that the nation has celebrated Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas since 2014. The celebration embodies India’s collective strength and unity.
“Today’s Unity March reflects the enduring ideals of national integration and solidarity,” he said, urging citizens to embrace self-reliance and patriotism.
“Let us all remember Sardar Saheb and commit ourselves to building a united, self-reliant, and developed India,” the Chief Minister concluded.
