Women Have Secured Over 60% Of Mudra Loans, Says PM Narendra Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday stated that women have secured over 60 per cent of loans under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana. He shared this while addressing the Nari Shakti Vandan Sammelan held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.

During his speech, the Prime Minister pointed out a growing trend. Women across the country are building independent identities. Many are doing so through entrepreneurial ventures.

“Today, our daughters are carving out their identities in new businesses. More than 60 per cent of loans under the Mudra scheme have been taken by women,” PM Modi said.

The Prime Minister emphasised that this growing involvement is not only empowering households but also strengthening the national economy.

“Women are also leading the country’s startup revolution,” the Prime Minister said while underlining their growing role in entrepreneurship and the country’s startup ecosystem.

Highlighting the importance of financial inclusion, PM Modi noted that initiatives like the Mudra scheme have enabled women at the grassroots level to access credit more easily. He observed that the high participation of women reflects a transformative phase in India’s entrepreneurial environment.

“Women are also at the forefront of the country’s startup revolution, breaking barriers and exploring new opportunities,” Prime Minister Modi added.

The Prime Minister reiterated that the active involvement of women in decision-making processes will be crucial for India’s long-term progress. He remarked that growing discussions around women’s representation demonstrate the strength of the country’s democratic framework.

“The increasing public discourse around women’s representation shows the strength of Indian democracy and signals a positive shift in societal attitudes,” Prime Minister Modi noted.

Referring to the Nari Shakti Vandan initiative, PM Modi said it will accelerate women’s aspirations and create smoother pathways to leadership roles. He explained that the initiative would help women transition from grassroots governance to higher political platforms more effectively.

The Prime Minister also highlighted a key development. More than 14 lakh women are currently participating in local governance bodies across the country. He noted that their involvement is instrumental in shaping policies and strengthening governance at the grassroots level.

The remarks underline the government’s focus on inclusive growth driven by women’s empowerment.

With increasing access to financial support and leadership opportunities, women are gaining greater momentum. They are set to play an even more significant role in shaping India’s economic future.
