A graduation ceremony of the 2nd batch of “Solar Sakhis”, a women prosper initiative of ANMA Integrated Development Association (AIDA) in collaboration with EPM Bindi International, Rajasthan, was held on May 31.
A press release by AIDA informed that 23 women completed the three-month course on “solar training”.
Speaking at the programme as special guest, Central Nagaland Women’s Association (CNWA) president, K. Atoli Sema encouraged the “solar sakhis” from various states of north east to become role models and torchbearers for the rest of the women living in different rural villages.
Highlighting the importance of being skilled, she said today only the skilled and hardworking people will survive and not those who depend on the education with minimum skill.
The special guest also handed over the demo kit to all the candidates who successfully completed the training.
In his speech, executive director, AIDA, Rev. Fr. Roy George SDB said the training was unique and a step ahead of others as the “solar sakhis” are equipped with a skill that was going to be “very important for tomorrow”.
As the world was moving towards the use of the solar, renewable and green energy more and more, he said the training empowers the “sakhis” to be self-sufficient and a means to earn their livelihood using their advanced skills.
He also briefed the gathering on AIDA’s interventions with rural communities in various areas through different programmes; and expressed towards EMP Bindi International for their collaboration with AIDA.
Project coordinator, Rural Marketing, EMP Bindi International, Tarandeep Singh briefed the gathering on the objectives of Bindi International, which is totally a women centric organization, working in 19 States across the country and globally.
The programme concluded with vote of thanks from associate director, AIDA, Rev. Fr. N. Angel Kuldeep SDB.
