Winter Session 2023: What Is Planned For The Day In Parliament; Ruling Party To Introduce Fresh Bills

Winter Session 2023: On Thursday, members of the opposition will request a discussion on the security breach in Parliament in both Houses. The Government of Union Territories (Amendment) Bill, 2023 will be brought up for consideration and passage in the Rajya Sabha by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The goal of the Government of Union Territories (Amendment) Bill, 2023 is to give women’s seats in the Puducherry Assembly a 33 percent reservation.

Bills to be presented by Amit Shah

The Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Second Amendment) Bill, 2023, which seeks to alter the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019, will be introduced by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the Rajya Sabha today for consideration and passing. Prior to this, on December 12, the Lok Sabha approved the Bill.

Nirmala Sitharaman to come to the Winter Session 2023 with bills

Nirmala Sitharaman, the Union Finance Minister, is scheduled to introduce the Appropriation (No.3) Bill, 2023 in the Rajya Sabha today. The bill is intended to be considered and returned in order to approve the payment and appropriation of additional funds from the Consolidated Fund of India for the services of the 2023–24 fiscal year. Prior to this, on December 12, the Lok Sabha approved the Bill.

The Appropriation (No. 4) Bill, which would authorize the appropriation of funds from the Indian Consolidated Fund to meet the amounts spent on specific services during the financial year that ended on March 31, 2021, in excess of the amounts granted for those services and for that year, is scheduled to be moved by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Rajya Sabha today for consideration and return. Prior to this, on December 12, the Lok Sabha passed the bill.

In response to the event involving the security breach in Parliament, Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Syed Naseer Hussain has suspended business in accordance with rule 267 and demanded a statement from the Union Home Minister. Congressman Gaurav Gogoi requests an adjournment motion in the Lok Sabha to address the situation involving a security breach in Parliament. Manish Tewari, a Congress MP, files an adjournment motion in the Lok Sabha to address the circumstances surrounding Navy soldiers in Qatar and the efforts being taken to repatriate them to India.
