‘Wings Over Ganga’: CM Yogi Welcomes PM Modi, Rajnath Singh To Kashi

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to Varanasi ahead of the Indian Air Force’s ‘Wings Over Ganga’ air show.

The event will further mark the IAF’s 94th anniversary and showcase its aerial capabilities over the holy city.

In a post on X, CM Yogi said the skies over Kashi would reflect the valour and prowess of the Indian Air Force. He welcomed the Prime Minister and Defence Minister to the sacred city of Baba Vishwanath and invited them to witness the aerial display at Namo Ghat.

“Today, the sky over the immortal Kashi will be adorned with pride by the valour and prowess of the Indian Air Force,” the Chief Minister wrote.

CM Yogi also highlighted the industrial development associated with the Prime Minister’s visit. He said PM Modi would inaugurate a new garment manufacturing unit operated by Arvind Limited, which aims to boost the textile industry and create new opportunities for regional development.

The Chief Minister said the event would showcase India’s defence capabilities, industrial progress and cultural heritage along the banks of the Ganga.

PM Modi also built anticipation for the event through a Facebook post on Saturday, writing, “The countdown begins, Wings over Ganges, tomorrow in Varanasi.”

PM Modi will attend the Air Force Day Aerial Display-2026 at Namo Ghat as the Chief Guest. The show will feature Tejas, Prachand, SU-30MKI and Rafale aircraft, along with aircraft from the Indian Army and Navy. The display will showcase the armed forces’ capabilities and coordination.
