Why KC Tyagi Became ‘Messenger’; Secret Revealed At Bharat Express Conclave Discussion

Senior politician KC Tyagi revealed an interesting episode from India’s political history during the Bharat Express Conclave.

Speaking with Upendrra Rai, CMD and Editor-in-Chief of Bharat Express, KC Tyagi explained why he once played the role of a political ‘messenger’. He recalled events surrounding the period of the Emergency in India.

During that turbulent phase, several opposition leaders worked quietly to build unity against the government.

KC Tyagi said he sometimes carried messages between prominent leaders to maintain communication.

According to him, senior figures such as Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Charan Singh remained engaged in discussions aimed at forming a united political front.

KC Tyagi explained that informal channels were necessary because political circumstances demanded discretion and coordination. He stated that these exchanges eventually contributed to the formation of the Janata Party.

The party later emerged as a major force in Indian politics following the Emergency period.

KC Tyagi described the experience as a unique moment in democratic history.

Leaders from different ideologies came together for a common political objective.

KC Tyagi concluded that those years demonstrated how dialogue, trust, and cooperation among leaders shaped a decisive chapter in India’s political evolution.
