WHO Director Appreciates When PM Modi Refers To Him As “Tulsi Bhai”

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the head of the World Health Organization (WHO), arrived in Gujarat on Wednesday to attend a number of health and medical conventions. Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed him and gave him the Gujarati name “Tulsi bhai.” The WHO director responded to his new name by saying he liked being referred to as a term that identifies him as a “pucca Gujarati.”

Given that ‘Tulsi’ is a medicinal herb, ‘Tulsi Bhai’ is a name I like. Tulsi was just planted in the Wellness Center. After visiting a health and wellness center in Gandhinagar, he exclaimed, “I’m really delighted to do it because it has numerous benefits.

PM Modi’s tweet

Earlier, PM Modi shared a post from the Union AYUSH ministry on X (formerly Twitter), in which the WHO director could be seen participating in a dandiya dance. “It’s obvious that my close friend Tulsi Bhai is ready for Navratri! @DrTedros, welcome to India!” he exclaimed.

‘Pakka Gujarati”

The Prime Minister added that Ghebreyesus had requested him for a name after he became a “pucca Gujarati” at the Global AYUSH Investment and Innovation Summit last year, where the name was initially given to him. “Tedros is one of my close friends. He always claimed that I was educated by Indian instructors and that I am in this country as a result. I have become a pucca Gujarati, he said today. Do you have a name picked out for me? As a Gujarati, I would thus refer to him as Tulsi bhai,” PM Modi stated last year.
