What Is The Reality Of Parking In Delhi? Read About The Special Report “Jeb Pe Daka”

In the malls and posh areas of the capital, Delhi, a huge amount is being collected in the name of parking, keeping the fixed rules and rates in check. What is the reality of parking in Delhi? This exclusive report by Bharat Express’s undercover reporter Raju Gupta and SIT head Subodh Jain will expose it in Operation “Jeb Pe Daka.”

Parking scam around Delhi

The exercise of free parking in malls in the capital, Delhi, has been going on for the last several years. But the reality on the ground is something else. Heavy parking fees are being collected at such places under the nose of the Municipal Corporation. Let us tell you that on

Due to this connivance of the officers involved in black money and the parking mafia, this scam of illegal recovery in the name of parking is going on unabated in many posh areas. Who is responsible for this recovery of lakhs of rupees in the name of parking? Delhi government? D.D.A? Or Municipal Corporation of Delhi?

To expose the parking scam going on in Delhi’s Select City Walk Mall, the under cover reporter of Bharat Express reached the parking area here. Here huge parking fees were being collected openly from the innocent public. Everyday hundreds of vehicles come here and on Saturday-Sunday this figure increases a lot. This recovery in the name of parking costs many lakhs of rupees in a month.

Employees collecting parking charges at DLF Avenue Mall in Saket said that here two-wheeler parking is charged at Rs 10 per hour and four-wheeler parking at Rs 20 per hour. Similarly, four-wheeler parking at MGF Metropolitan Mall in South Delhi is being charged at Rs 40 for the first two hours and Rs 10 per hour thereafter.

Parking rates across Hauz Khas

The parking staff of Hauz Khas Village asked for twenty four hundred rupees for one month pass for car parking and eight hundred rupees for two wheeler parking. This person told that this parking contract has been raised for twenty five lakhs.

Parking rates by MCD

According to the parking rate list of MCD, Rs 1200 has been fixed for the day pass of the car for the whole month and Rs 2000 for the day and night pass. 600 rupees per month has been fixed for the same day pass for two wheeler parking. That is, the contractor who offers the top up in the corporation is openly committing robbery by charging more money from you.

Let us tell you that on October 10, 2019, the Committee on Petitions of the Delhi Legislative Assembly wrote a letter to the DDA regarding collection of illegal parking fees in Select City Walk Mall, DLF Mall, Saket and Max Hospital Saket, under the Master Plan/Building Bye Laws-2016. It has been said to ensure free parking.

Apart from this, the committee was told by the SDMC at that time that since the land for these malls has been given by the DDA, their jurisdiction does not come under the bifurcated corporation i.e. South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC).

The real tariff for parking in this Kalkaji temple area of MCD is twenty rupees for 24 hours for a car and fifty rupees for a bike. This means that, in the name of parking, people are also being looted openly.
