The Prime Minister began by paying respects to Lord Ram, Mother Janaki and Bajrangbali before conveying his Vijayadashami wishes to the public.
“Today, every corner of India is imbued with the spirit of Lord Ram—in every village and every city. The entire nation is immersed in the spirit of the Ramlila,” he said.
PM Modi described Ramlila as a living cultural tradition that preserves Lord Ram’s ideals and conveys the message that truth ultimately triumphs over falsehood.
“For us, this is not merely a festival. It is the life force of India,” he stated, adding that Vijayadashami showcases India’s civilisational values and celebrates the victory of good over evil.
The Prime Minister stressed the need to balance India’s development with respect for its cultural roots. He emphasised the importance of preserving the country’s national identity.
Prime Minister Modi cited the return of more than 650 ancient artefacts and idols over the past 12 years. He referred to UNESCO’s recognition of Indian traditions, including Diwali.
PM Modi urged political parties and institutions to set aside their differences. He further called on them to work together for the country’s welfare.
PM Modi urged citizens to resist attempts to damage India’s reputation. He called on them to oppose social divisions and hostility towards the country’s cultural traditions.
Drawing on the concept of Ramrajya, PM Modi highlighted the need for fair and inclusive governance. He further stressed that the system must ensure equal opportunities, deliver justice and reject discrimination.
The Prime Minister said the needs of poor and marginalised communities should remain central to public policy.
