On Saturday, Vice-President CP Radhakrishnan encouraged young graduates to take on a more active role in shaping the country’s future by becoming entrepreneurs and contributors to national development. He was speaking at the 35th convocation ceremony of the University of Rajasthan.
Addressing students in Jaipur as the chief guest, the Vice-President highlighted Rajasthan’s historical legacy and cultural richness, while noting that the state capital reflects a balance between tradition and modern growth. He praised the university for nurturing individuals who go on to contribute meaningfully to society.
Congratulating the graduating class, Vice-President Radhakrishnan described the occasion as a transition point, urging students to apply their knowledge in practical ways. He stressed that education should go beyond academic achievement and serve as a foundation for innovation, ethical responsibility and social progress.
Referring to national goals such as self-reliance and long-term development, he called on students to generate employment and support economic growth. He also acknowledged initiatives by the state government led by Bhajan Lal Sharma aimed at expanding opportunities for young people.
On the subject of gender equality, the Vice-President commended the performance of women graduates, noting their strong presence among top achievers. He underlined the importance of equal participation in leadership and public life, expressing confidence that measures like the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam would strengthen representation.
Speaking about the demands of a changing global environment, Vice-President Radhakrishnan urged students to remain adaptable, uphold ethical values and continue learning throughout their lives. He emphasised that success should be guided by humility and empathy.
The Vice-President, however, concluded by advising graduates to stay socially responsible, respect diversity, avoid substance abuse and use digital platforms thoughtfully.
