Verbal sparring escalates: Telangana congress chief’s ‘Khaki Knickers’ Barb met with Asaduddin Owaisi’s sharp reply

In a heated exchange ahead of the upcoming Telangana assembly elections on November 30, Asaduddin Owaisi, the chief of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), and Telangana Congress chief Revanth Reddy engaged in a war of words.

Owaisi accused Reddy of being a “puppet of RSS” and practicing “dog whistle politics” against the minority community. He asserted that Reddy’s roots in the RSS and alleged connections with Mohan Bhagwat, the RSS chief, influence his political stance.

Responding to Owaisi’s remarks, Reddy took a jab at Owaisi, claiming that he wears a “khaki knicker under his sherwani.” In retaliation, Owaisi highlighted Reddy’s political journey, alleging that Reddy started as an RSS member, then associated with ABVP, joined Telugu Desam, and finally landed in Congress. Owaisi suggested that Congress’s Gandhi Bhavan is controlled by Mohan Bhagwat.

Drawing parallels with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s identification of CAA protesters based on their attire, Owaisi criticized Reddy for targeting him over his sherwani, emphasizing the divisive nature of such remarks.

The political tension in Telangana is palpable as the state gears up for assembly elections on November 30. The verbal sparring between Owaisi and Reddy reflects the high stakes involved, with the counting of votes scheduled for December 3, alongside four other poll-bound states. The exchange highlights the complexity of political dynamics and the use of personal narratives in the lead-up to crucial elections.
