Uttarakhand’s Chief Minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami, has expressed profound sorrow and extended his heartfelt condolences to the families affected by a tragic road accident in Nainital district, which claimed the lives of eight individuals and left three others injured. In a statement, CM Dhami conveyed his prayers for the departed souls’ peace and urged strength for the grieving families to cope with their loss. He also prayed for the swift recovery of the injured. The Chief Minister shared his condolences on social media, posting, “I received the sad news of eight people being killed in a road accident in Nainital district. I pray to God to grant peace to the souls of the departed and strength to the bereaved family to bear this pain. I pray to God for the speedy recovery of the injured. Om Shanti.”

The accident occurred when a vehicle carrying ten passengers veered off the road and plunged into a gorge in Betalghat, Nainital district, on Monday night. Meanwhile, CM Dhami had earlier expressed his distress over a fire incident at the shops within the Garjiya Devi temple complex in Ramnagar, Nainital district. Offering his sympathies to those affected, he instructed the Nainital District Magistrate to conduct a thorough investigation into the causes of the blaze. Furthermore, the Chief Minister emphasized the need for stringent measures to prevent such incidents from recurring at religious sites.
Ensuring the smooth conduct of festivities, especially during the ongoing Navratri festival, CM Dhami emphasized the importance of adequate management to facilitate devotees’ worship at temples. He underscored the significance of maintaining arrangements to ensure devotees’ comfort and safety throughout the Navratri celebrations.
