Uttar Pradesh Government To Install 485 Designer Streetlights At Maha Kumbh 2025

As preparations for the Maha Kumbh 2025 gather pace, the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government is embarking on a transformative project to make the event a grand visual spectacle which includes the installation of 485 designer streetlights across the fairgrounds with an investment of Rs 8 crore.

These decorative lights will likely brighten the area, offering a blend of cultural richness and modernity to the devotees.

Under the guidance of the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd, the lighting will span key routes leading to the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati.

The officials will install specially designed poles to illuminate major roads like Lal Sadak, Kali Sadak, and Triveni Sadak, ensuring divine light marks every step toward the Sangam.

A Divine Experience For Devotees

Manoj Gupta, Superintending Engineer for Maha Kumbh, shared the vision behind the lighting project, stating, “This initiative is part of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s broader plan to elevate the Maha Kumbh experience. The new streetlights, featuring intricate designs and cultural motifs, will guide pilgrims with a sense of spiritual serenity. The themes of Lord Shiva, Lord Ganesha, and Lord Vishnu will feature prominently, adding an aesthetic and sacred touch to the fairground.”

A Lasting Legacy For Future Visitors

For the first time, the lighting poles will be permanent structures, replacing the temporary fixtures used in previous events.

Anoop Singh, Executive Engineer, emphasized that the installation of permanent poles will not only enhance the grandeur of the Maha Kumbh but will also ensure that this beauty endures for future generations.

“The new poles are beautifully adorned with depictions of sacred urns and various deities, ensuring that the cultural vibrancy remains long after the Kumbh festivities end,” he further added.

The officials plans to complete the project by 15 December 2024 and expects to create a mesmerizing sight as the illuminated fairgrounds shine brightly at night.

These installations will continue to serve as a permanent feature of Prayagraj, providing a unique experience for both devotees and future visitors.

A Blend Of Culture & Technology

This initiative by the Uttar Pradesh Electricity Department marks a new chapter in the Maha Kumbh’s history, merging modern infrastructure with India’s rich spiritual and cultural heritage.

By infusing the event with both technological and artistic grandeur, the Yogi government is ensuring that Maha Kumbh 2025 will stand as a symbol of India’s progress while preserving its timeless traditions.

As the lights of Maha Kumbh 2025 illuminate the fairgrounds, they will not only light up the paths to spiritual salvation but will also shine as a testament to the country’s cultural pride and the devotion of millions of pilgrims who gather to celebrate the divine occasion.
