US Is Digesting Multipolar World, It Is Changin: Says Jaishankar

Jaishankar, the minister of external affairs for the Union, made a remark that the United States is adapting to the new multipolar world in a way that would be advantageous to the nation. The Union’s foreign minister claimed at a discussion at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York on Tuesday that the globe has become more democratic, allowing for the redistribution of power, and that the US is actively trying to form the new poles and what will be their weight.

US adjusting to bipolar world

“The United States may not use that term, it is adjusting to a multipolar world,” Jaishankar said. He added that the US’s relative power and dominance have changed, which was another point he made. “Part of it is the long-term consequences of Iraq and Afghanistan. That’s only one part of it,” he added.

The minister of external affairs will visit Washington, DC, on Wednesday to meet with Antony Blinken, the US secretary of state. He added that the alliance between the US, India, Japan, Australia, and Australia, known as Quad, is an illustration of how Washington can no longer claim that it “basically works only with my allies.”

India US alliance

Jaishankar expressed optimism for the India-US alliance, saying there were “enormous possibilities” for advancing mutual interests.

He did, however, previously make an indirect jab at the US in response to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s claim that New Delhi was involved in the June murder of secessionist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar. For using “double standards,” Jaishankar criticized the countries “occupying the position of influence” in the world. He made his comments after David Cohen, the US ambassador to Canada, supported Trudeau’s claims by claiming that the Canadian prime minister’s claims were supported by intelligence shared among the ‘Five Eyes’ members.
