A tragic accident on the Mirzapur-Varanasi border has left 10 people dead and 3 others injured after a truck collided with a tractor-trolley on GT Road.
The tragedy occurred when the tractor-trolley, transporting 13 laborers returning from construction work in Bhadohi district, was struck from behind by the truck, which reportedly lost control.
Local authorities have confirmed that they transported the injured individuals to the Trauma Centre in Varanasi for urgent medical attention.
As investigations continue, authorities have filed an FIR and initiated legal proceedings to ascertain the circumstances that led to the accident.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to social media platform X on Friday to express his condolences, stating, “The road accident that occurred in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh, is extremely painful. My heartfelt condolences go out to the bereaved families of those who lost their lives. May God give them the strength to endure this pain.”
“I also wish for the speedy recovery of all the injured. Under the supervision of the state government, the local administration is working to assist the victims in every possible way,” PM Modi further added.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed district administration officials to ensure the injured receive immediate and adequate medical care.
He further emphasized the importance of prompt relief efforts at the accident site, urging officials to provide all necessary assistance to those affected.
Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Anupriya Patel also shared her grief over the incident, offering her wishes for the rapid recovery of the injured.
This tragic event follows a previous accident in August, where two men lost their lives in a motorcycle collision with a tractor-trolley in the same district, highlighting ongoing concerns about road safety in the region.
As authorities conduct a thorough investigation, the community mourns the loss of life, and officials work to support those impacted by this heartbreaking incident.
