UP Municipal Elections Result 2023 LIVE: BJP Pockets 10 Nagar Nigams

UP Municipal Elections Result 2023 LIVE: The high-octane Uttar Pradesh urban local body (ULB) elections will end today with the declaration of results for mayors and corporators in 17 municipal corporations and for chairpersons and members of Nagar Palika parishads as well as nagar panchayats.

This time also, there is a high probability of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state continuing its dominance by sweeping the urban local bodies while the opposition parties like Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Congress would be eyeing to regain the lost ground.

The counting of votes for the UP civic elections will begin at 8 am today. Voting for civic body elections was held in two phases on May 4 and May 11. In the civic elections on May 11, in the second phase, 53 per cent of voters exercised their franchise in 38 districts, while in the first phase on May 4, 52 per cent of polling was held in 37 districts of the state.

On the other hand, in Uttar Pradesh, the election for mayor was held in Agra, Jhansi, Shahjahanpur, Firozabad, Saharanpur, Meerut, Lucknow, Kanpur, Ghaziabad, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Aligarh, Bareilly, Moradabad, Gorakhpur, Ayodhya, Mathura-Vrindavan Municipal Corporation. The impact of the victory of the UP civic elections will also be seen in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. This time there is a close fight between BJP and SP in UP.
