The Uttar Pradesh government is making efforts to ensure ‘Swachh Kumbha.’ Under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s guidance, the Prayagraj Mela Authority is setting up 1.5 lakh toilets and urinals across the Mahakumbh Mela area. The installation will be completed by December 15. The government has empaneled vendors and issued Letters of Award (LOAs) for efficient execution.
Akanksha Rana, Special Executive Officer for Kumbh Mela, confirmed the sanitation infrastructure, including jet spray cleaning and cesspool operation plans, will be ready by December 15. All facilities will be monitored using QR codes to ensure cleanliness.
The plan includes 49,000 Kannath toilets with soak pits, 12,000 FRP toilets with septic tanks, and 17,000 FRP toilets with soak pits. Additionally, 9,000 prefabricated steel community toilets with septic tanks and 23,000 with soak pits will be installed. The setup will also feature 350 mobile toilets, 15,000 cemented toilets, and 500 VIP toilets. For urinals, 20,000 FRP units will be set up.
These facilities will cater to 4 to 5 crore devotees, especially on Mauni Amavasya. The toilets will remain open 24/7 with continuous cleaning arrangements.
