The Uttar Pradesh government has arranged 1,200 additional rural buses to ensure smooth travel for devotees during the final phase of Maha Kumbh 2025.
Authorities have strategically allocated these buses to different areas to manage the large influx of pilgrims.
Minister of State for Transport (Independent Charge) Dayashankar Singh stated that these buses have reserved specifically for the Maha Shivratri bathing period from 20 to 28 February 2025, to prevent any inconvenience to visitors.
“750 shuttle buses are already operational in the Sangam area,” he stated, adding that officials have been instructed to ensure proper duty allocation and their presence for smooth operations.

Considering a lower passenger turnout from six regions of Western Uttar Pradesh—Saharanpur, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Bareilly, Moradabad, and Aligarh—the minister has directed officials to dispatch at least 25 buses daily from these areas to Prayagraj.
This move aims to accommodate the growing number of pilgrims from Purvanchal.
Additionally, buses operating from Prayagraj, Varanasi, Azamgarh, Chitrakoot, Ayodhya, and Devipatan (excluding those assigned for fair operations) will restricted to a maximum range of 300 km.
This will enable their swift deployment to the fairgrounds as needed.
