UP DGP Orders Enhanced Security And Social Media Monitoring Ahead Of Diwali

Uttar Pradesh DGP Prashant Kumar has directed top police officers to implement strict security measures across the state for the upcoming Dhanteras and Diwali celebrations, particularly in Ayodhya. The city will celebrate its seventh Deepotsav festival, aiming to light 28 lakh clay lamps along the Saryu River to set a world record.

A special lamp-lighting ceremony is planned for the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The DGP has instructed personnel to monitor all social media platforms closely and take prompt action against false posts. An official statement emphasized the need to counter disinformation swiftly, warning that those responsible will face severe consequences.

Increased Vigilance in Ayodhya

In a video conference with senior police officials, DGP Kumar highlighted the importance of heightened security, especially in Ayodhya. He directed that all dharamshalas, hotels, dhabas, and lodges in the area be under constant surveillance. Officers must investigate suspicious individuals and locations thoroughly. Security measures will include 24-hour police presence at critical sites and traffic management to ensure smooth circulation.

Firecracker Regulations and Patrols

The DGP ordered that all permits for explosive materials and firecracker vendors be renewed at the police station level. Surprise inspections will be conducted by sub-divisional magistrates, circle officers, and fire department officials at manufacturing sites. Kumar stated that firecrackers should be stored and sold away from crowded areas, with adequate firefighting equipment on standby. He also emphasized maintaining lists of antisocial elements for targeted supervision. Additionally, Kumar instructed police officials to conduct rigorous patrols and form quick response squads equipped for riot control in each district.
