UP CM Adityanath Congratulates Nitish on Bihar CM Oath

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath extended his congratulations to Nitish Kumar on Sunday as he took the oath of office as Chief Minister of Bihar for the record ninth time. In a post on ‘X’, Adityanath expressed his hearty congratulations to Nitish Kumar, as well as to Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Sinha. Adityanath expressed confidence that the newly formed government in Bihar, operating with the support of the BJP, would establish exceptional standards of service, good governance, and development under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The swearing-in ceremony, held at the Raj Bhavan in Patna, saw Nitish Kumar taking the oath of office as Chief Minister after a significant political shift. Kumar, the JD(U) president, parted ways with the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) and the INDIA opposition bloc, forming a new government with the BJP, which he had left less than 18 months ago. Governor Rajendra Arlekar administered the oath of office in the presence of senior leaders, including BJP National President J.P. Nadda.

Among those who took the oath were BJP leaders Samrat Choudhary and former speaker Vijay Kumar Sinha, who were named as deputy chief ministers. Both Choudhary and Sinha had earlier been appointed as leader and deputy leader, respectively, of the BJP legislature party. They expressed gratitude to the party’s leadership and pledged to protect Bihar from what they referred to as the “jungle raj” unleashed by Lalu Prasad’s RJD.

In addition to the BJP leaders, JD(U) members Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Vijendra Yadav, and Shrawan Kumar, along with former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi-led Hindustan Awam Morcha’s Santosh Kumar Suman and independent legislator Sumit Singh, also took the oath.

The political landscape in Bihar witnessed a dramatic turn as Nitish Kumar, after resigning from his post earlier in the day, aligned with the BJP, highlighting that things were not working well for him in the Grand Alliance and the opposition bloc. The ceremony marked the beginning of a new political equation in Bihar, with leaders expressing optimism about the governance standards under the alliance with the BJP.
