Uttar Pradesh Government is planning to begin with the monsoon session of legislative assembly by July or first week of August 2024.
A senior officer in the government hint about the planning saying, “The monsoon session of the state legislature is likely to be convened sometime in July 2024 or in the first week of August 2024.”
As per the Article 174 of the constitution, State government must convene monsoon session before August 10. Notably, budget session of UP assembly beginning from February 3 was adjourned on February 10 for undefined period.

It provides, “The Governor shall from time to time summon the House or each House of the Legislature of the State to meet at such time and place as he thinks fit, but six months shall not intervene between its last sitting in one session and the date appointed for its first sitting in the next session.”
Following the announcement of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, this will be the state Legislative Assembly’s first session.

Following his election to the Lok Sabha, Akhilesh Yadav resigned from the Karhal Assembly seat. Other resignations include those of SP MLA Awadhesh Prasad from the Ayodhya seat of Milkipur. There are currently ten open seats in the UP assembly, and in the upcoming months, Uttar Pradesh will hold by-election.
