New Delhi: On Friday, the Honorable Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, and Petroleum and Natural Gas, Shri Hardeep Singh Puri inaugurated a conference on “Adopting Emerging Building Materials and Technologies in the Construction Industry” at Vigyan Bhawan. State Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Kausal Kishor, was also present at the event. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) hosted this conference in partnership with the Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Association of India (CREDAI). Secretary of MoHUA, Manoj Joshi, and several prominent figures from the real estate, housing, and construction sectors were in attendance. Senior officials from the Ministry and state/central governments were also part of the program.
The conference shared ideas aimed at incorporating innovative construction technologies, materials, and processes into mainstream practice, drawing input from various segments of the construction industry including real estate developers, subject matter experts, urban planners, and stakeholders. During his speech, the Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs highlighted the adoption of various new technologies under different projects. Minister Puri stated, “The government has prepared a roadmap for the construction industry, and this conference brings together innovative construction technologies and some of the best suggestions from the Indian real estate industry. It is important that we explore easy ways to adopt emerging materials and technologies in the construction industry. I am confident that the discussions and ideas shared in this conference will contribute to improving future dialogues on this matter.”

The conference enhanced awareness regarding sustainable and durable construction materials and technologies among stakeholders, ensuring a more resilient future. We commend the government’s initiatives to present regulations systematically and aid contemporary development. Chairman of CREDAI, Manoj Gaur, expressed gratitude through a vote of thanks, saying, “Today, we are grateful for the progress in the promotion and propagation of construction technologies and materials in the construction sector in the country. Credit goes to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for their role in integrating global housing technologies in India. During the program, a detailed discussion took place on the experiences of technology adoption and sustainable construction of Model Housing Projects in six locations, namely Chennai, Rajkot, Indore, Lucknow, Ranchi, and Agartala, under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban). After the inauguration ceremony, sessions were held with experts and key speakers. Two panel discussions were organized on the topics of ‘Role of the Private Sector in Bringing Innovative Construction Technology Ecosystem into the Mainstream’ and ‘Promoting Adoption of Emerging Building Materials and Processes.’ These sessions involved participants from both private and government sectors, technology providers, innovators, construction agencies, professionals, educators, and more.
