Union Home Minister Amit Shah Celebrates Hindi Diwas, Highlights Language’s Role In National Unity

On Saturday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah marked Hindi Diwas with a message highlighting the deep connection between Hindi and all Indian languages. He celebrated Hindi’s 75 years as the country’s official language and emphasized its role in national unity.

“This year, Hindi completes 75 years of serving as the official language, fostering public communication and national unity,” Shah said in a message posted on X. He expressed confidence that Hindi, along with all Indian languages, will continue to contribute to the vision of a developed India.

Akhil Bharatiya Rajbhasha Sammelan

Shah will address the inaugural session of the Official Language Diamond Jubilee celebrations and the fourth Akhil Bharatiya Rajbhasha Sammelan in New Delhi. The Department of Official Language is hosting this event at Bharat Mandapam on September 14-15 to commemorate Hindi’s 75 years as the official language.

During the celebrations, Shah will launch the Diamond Jubilee Special Issue of the ‘Rajbhasha Bharti’ magazine and the ‘Bharatiya Bhasha Anubhag.’ He will further unveil a commemorative postage stamp and coin to honor the Diamond Jubilee. Additionally, he will present the Rajbhasha Gaurav and Rajbhasha Kirti Awards.

In 2019, Shah conceptualized organizing Hindi Diwas on a large scale across various cities, with the first Akhil Bharatiya Rajbhasha Sammelan held in Varanasi in 2021.

India’s Cultural Heritage and Hindi

The Ministry of Home Affairs further announced that the fourth Akhil Bharatiya Rajbhasha Sammelan will include discussions on Hindi’s progress as an official, public, and contact language over the past 75 years. The first day’s post-lunch session will focus on “Official Language Diamond Jubilee – Progress of Hindi,” followed by a session on “India’s Cultural Heritage and Hindi,” led by renowned Hindi poet Kumar Vishwas.

Moreover, on September 15, the conference will feature discussions by prominent linguists and lexicographers on “The Role of Dictionary in Language Teaching and the Speciality of Devanagari Script.” Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal will address a session on “Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam 2023.” The final session will explore “Indian Cinema as a Powerful Medium for the Development of Hindi.”

However, the Ministry expects over 10,000 participants, including Rajbhasha officials, Hindi scholars, and senior Government of India officials, to attend the two-day conference.
