‘Undefeated Warrior’: Amit Shah Remembers Bajirao Peshwa On Birth Anniversary

Union Home Minister Amit Shah paid tribute to Shrimant Bajirao Peshwa on his birth anniversary on August 18, remembering the Maratha commander for his military leadership and commitment to Swaraj.

In a bilingual message in Hindi and Marathi, Shah described Bajirao as an undefeated warrior who fought for the motherland, religion and Swaraj. He further highlighted the Peshwa’s role in expanding the Maratha power associated with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s vision of Hindavi Swaraj.

Shah shared a 15-second video showing a statue of the mounted Peshwa against a fort and battlefield backdrop.

Born on August 18, 1700, Bajirao became Peshwa at the age of 20. Over nearly two decades, he remained unbeaten in battle and played a major role in expanding Maratha influence across several parts of India.

Bajirao’s military campaigns challenged Mughal authority and strengthened the political and military position of the Maratha power.

The tribute, however, highlighted Bajirao’s military prowess, leadership and commitment to Swaraj. His campaigns also reinforced the legacy of Hindavi Swaraj associated with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Bajirao’s military achievements and strategic leadership continue to hold a prominent place in Maratha history, with Shrimant Bajirao Peshwa remembered as one of the era’s most formidable commanders.
