A 30-year-old male tuition teacher has been apprehended for allegedly sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl at his residence in the New Ashok Nagar area of east Delhi, said the police. The incident occurred on Saturday when the young girl went to his place for tuition classes. It is alleged that upon finding the girl alone, he sexually assaulted her. Later in the evening, after returning home, the girl confided in her parents, who promptly notified the police around 7 pm. Deputy Commissioner of Police (East), Amrutha Guguloth, stated that the minor girl was provided with counselling and underwent a medical examination.
The police revealed that the girl had been attending tuition classes with the accused for the past 15 days along with other students who were not present during the incident. Based on the complaint, the tuition teacher was charged under Section 354(b) (assault or use of criminal force with intent to disrobe) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 8 (punishment for sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. The accused has been arrested, and further investigation is underway, added the DCP.
