Tragedy struck early today in Mumbai’s Goregaon when a massive fire engulfed a 7-storey building, claiming the lives of seven individuals and leaving more than 40 injured. The devastating incident occurred around 3 am at Jay Bhavani building in the Azad Nagar locality of Goregaon West, as reported by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
The injured victims were swiftly transported to HBT Hospital and Cooper Hospital, both located in Mumbai. Among the casualties, the heartbreaking toll included two minors. Among the 40 injured individuals, 12 were males, while the remaining 28 were females, with one of them being a minor.
Expressing his sorrow and condolences, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis conveyed, “Pained to know about the loss of lives in the fire incident at #Goregaon, Mumbai. We are in touch with BMC & Mumbai Police officials, and all the assistance is being provided. My deepest condolences to the families who lost their loved ones and wishing speedy recovery to the injured ones.”
The fire’s ferocity left no corner of the building untouched, consuming shops, scrap materials, cars, and other vehicles parked on the ground floor. An exhaustive investigation is now underway to ascertain the exact cause of this tragic fire.
