Traffic Diversions, Airport Restrictions Ahead Of PM Modi’s Coimbatore Visit

Coimbatore will see major traffic diversions and tightened security on November 19 as Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the city.

He will inaugurate the South India Natural Farming Summit at the Codissia Trade Fair Complex.

The city police and airport authorities issued advisories to ensure smooth traffic flow and enhanced security during the high-profile visit.

Authorities will divert traffic on busy Avinashi Road between 12 PM and 4 PM.

Heavy vehicles from Tirupur, Erode, and Salem cannot enter the city core via Avinashi Road.

They must take the Salem-Cochin Highway and reach Ondipudur and Singanallur before joining Avinashi Road.

Heavy vehicles starting within the city must make a U-turn at Lakshmi Mills. They must use the Ramanathapuram-Singanallur-Ondipudur route to join the Salem-Cochin Highway and proceed toward Neelambur

These measures aim to reduce congestion on arterial stretches leading to the PM’s event venue.

Light vehicles will also face route changes. Vehicles from Neelambur heading toward the city must turn right at Thottipalayam Pirivu, proceed to Kalapatti Junction, and continue via Vilankurichi to enter Coimbatore.

Vehicles travelling from the city toward Neelambur must make a U-turn at Tidel Park Junction and use Kamarajar Road to reach Singanallur.

The GD Naidu Flyover will remain closed from 12 PM to 3 PM to facilitate VIP movement.

Authorities will ban trucks from entering the city between 8 AM and 8 PM on November 19.

Security has also increased at Coimbatore International Airport. Authorities will restrict private vehicles and call taxis from entering the airport premises between 12 PM and 3 PM on November 19.

Authorities advise passengers on November 18 and 19 not to park due to limited space. They will allow pick-up and drop-off for only three minutes.

Authorities will ban parking in front of the terminal and at the Y-junction from 6 AM on November 18 until 5 AM on November 20.

Authorities will tow and fine unauthorised vehicles. Police and airport authorities urged the public to follow temporary measures for the Prime Minister’s security.
