New Delhi: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast “cold wave to severe cold wave” conditions in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and several other states for the next few days, predicting “cold wave to severe cold wave” conditions in these states until January 18 and 19.
According to the weather office’s Monday bulletin, “cold wave to severe cold wave” conditions are likely to persist in Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi until January 18, and “cold wave” conditions in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar until January 19.
Cold wave conditions are very likely over many/some parts of Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi until the 18th, and then in isolated pockets of east Rajasthan on the 19th; cold wave conditions are also very likely over Uttar Pradesh and Bihar during the 17th-19th; and over Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Saurashtra, and Kutch on the 17th and 18th,” the IMD said in a release.
According to the IMD, the cold wave over northwest India is expected to end on January 19.
Until January 18, the Met Department predicts “dense to very dense fog” in isolated pockets over West Bengal and Sikkim.
“Two western disturbances in quick succession are likely to affect northwest India on January 18 and another on January 20. As a result, the cold wave over northwest India is expected to end on January 19, according to the IMD.

According to the IMD, “dense fog” is expected to cover Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand until January 18, Bihar until January 19, Odisha until January 17, and Assam, Meghalaya, and Tripura until January 20.
