Delhi Police have apprehended three Nigerian nationals residing in India without valid documents. Officials stated that deportation proceedings have begun through the FRRO following due legal procedure. The action was conducted by the South West District Police Operations Cell.
The three Nigerians have been named: 29-year-old Eloumuno Gabriel from Anambra, 33-year-old Chinedu Paulinus from Asaba, and 26-year-old Sunusi Sani from Lagos.
At first, the three said their visas were lodged with the Nigerian mission. But officials checked with the High Commission and Immigration Department and found the visas had expired, and they hadn’t gone back home.
Intelligence suggested the presence of undocumented African nationals in Sagarpur and Palam.
Police promptly intercepted three men and requested their documents. When they could not present valid visas, they were admitted to overstaying in India.
During the search, police examined their mobile phones and recovered digital copies of their Nigerian passports and national identity cards.
On interrogation, the detainees disclosed that they had been working in housekeeping jobs. Including some other African acquaintances in Shahpura, Gurugram and Noida.
Authorities reported that the trio resided in Dwarka Sector-01 near Palam village and were seeking job opportunities at the time of arrest.
It was reported that the three men will be held in police custody until deportation is finalised with immigration authorities.
