In a tragic development from Karnataka’s Bidar district, three individuals have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the rape and murder of a 19-year-old girl from the Scheduled Caste community. The arrests, which took place on Thursday, followed a comprehensive investigation by local authorities.

Bidar Superintendent of Police Pradeep Gunti confirmed that the case has been registered under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, in addition to charges of rape and murder. According to Gunti, one of the accused is from the same village as the victim, while the other two are from a neighboring village.

The incident reportedly occurred in the Basavakalyan taluk. The young woman had been missing since August 29, and her parents launched a search for her. After two days without success, they filed a missing person report with the police on August 31. Her body was discovered on September 1, hidden in a bush, with signs of a severe head injury.

Initially, the police registered a murder case, but subsequent postmortem and forensic tests confirmed rape, leading to additional charges. The authorities initiated a manhunt and successfully apprehended the suspects.

The arrest has sparked widespread outrage, with various groups, organizations, and the opposition BJP staging protests demanding justice for the victim and her family. During the investigation, it was revealed that the victim was acquainted with the primary accused, who had reportedly arrived in a car with the other two suspects to pick her up. She never returned home, prompting her family to report her missing.

The investigation into the case is ongoing as authorities continue to seek additional details and ensure justice is served.
