“Threatened To Throw My Baby Out” Says Bengal Woman Raped On Sifhung Express

According to government railway police (GRP) investigators, a woman was sexually assaulted inside an unreserved coach of the Sifhung Express on Saturday night as she traveled with her infant son from Assam’s Guwahati to Alipurduar junction station in north Bengal.

The rape victim informed the police that the suspect threatened to toss her child from a moving train if she didn’t give in.
Moinul Haque and N Abdul, two Assamese citizens who were charged with the crime, were apprehended by West Bengal GRP hours after it was committed and appeared before a court in Alipurduar on Sunday.

“Both suspects were held in police custody for a five-day remand. Alipurduar’s police superintendent Y Raghuvanshi informed reporters that an inquiry was ongoing.
The woman, who was a local of the Alipurduar district, boarded the train on Saturday afternoon in Guwahati. She said in her complaint that the two males who entered the compartment at Kokrajhar in Assam, the train’s third-to-last halt, committed the crime.

“The victim claimed that one of the men sexually assaulted her after other passengers of the coach exited at the Fakiragram Junction while the other threatened to throw her child off the running train if she resisted,” a GRP official stated on the condition of anonymity.

“Despite being in shock, the mother managed to exit the train at the Alipurduar junction, grab the child, and run to the GRP office. In less than two hours, the suspects were apprehended, the officer continued.
