The Prime Minister Declares August 23 To Be “National Space Day” Lauds ISRO Scientist

The moon’s landing site of Chandrayaan-3 will be known as “Shivshakti,” according to PM Modi, who also praised the contributions of female scientists for the mission’s success and the landing.

‘National Space Day’ was declared on August 23 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday. On August 23, Chandrayaan-3 accomplished a successful soft landing on the lunar south pole.

At the ISRO command headquarters in Bengaluru, the prime minister was speaking to scientists from the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

On Saturday, Modi met with ISRO scientists and gave them his congratulations while praising the Chandryaan-3 heroes responsible for the mission’s success. The PM spoke with ISRO researchers in Bengaluru at the ISTRAC (Isro Telemetry Tracking and Command Network Mission Control Complex).

The moon’s landing site of Chandrayaan-3 will be known as “Shivshakti,” according to PM Modi, who also praised the contributions of female scientists for the mission’s success and the landing.

“Women scientists played a significant part in Chandrayaan 3; this ‘Shivkshakti’ point will motivate future generations to apply science to improve human welfare. The welfare of the people is our first priority, according to PM Modi.

Additionally, he declared that the location of Chandrayaan-2’s impact will be referred to as the “Tiranga” point.
“In the modern period, the nation that advances in science and technology will be writing the history…We have determined that August 23, the day that our Chandrayaan-3 lander contacted the moon, shall be recognised as National Space Day in order to inspire the next generation to pursue careers in science, technology, and space, Prime Minister Modi stated.

“The Moon is where we take great pride in our country. This accomplishment is unique! India of today is the BOLD AND BRAVE India!, Modi proclaimed in his speech.

Using the success of Chandrayaan 3 as an example, he claimed that the scientists had taken the Make In India initiative to the Moon.

The PM arrived in Bengaluru early on Saturday. Despite being unable to attend in person, Modi participated electronically in the Chandrayaan-3 landing and congratulated ISRO chief S. Somanath and his crew on their successful landing on the lunar south pole area, making India the first nation to accomplish this accomplishment.

The most recent moon programme, a follow-up mission to Chandrayaan-2 in 2019, aims to accomplish three goals: show off rover roving capabilities on the moon surface, demonstrate a safe and soft landing on the moon surface, and perform in-situ scientific experiments.

The lander (Vikram) and rover (Pragyan) of ISRO’s Chandrayaan-3 successfully landed on the moon on Wednesday, August 23, at 6:04 p.m. During the ensuing two weeks, the craft will conduct a number of experiments on the lunar surface.

According to ISRO, the Pragyan rover rolled out across the Moon’s surface on Friday and covered a distance of 8 metres.

Although the Indian space agency’s attempt at a soft landing on the second lunar mission may have been unsuccessful, it was nonetheless successful in positioning its orbiter in the route, which is still providing important data.

India was one of the top four countries to carry out a soft landing on the lunar surface thanks to ISRO’s historic feat, and it was the first country to reach the Moon’s uncharted south pole.
