Tejashwi Yadav Takes Charge In RJD Amid Major Organizational Shake-up

The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) is undergoing a significant leadership shift as its founder, Lalu Prasad Yadav, prepares to hand over the reins to his son, Tejashwi Yadav.

In a historic move, both Lalu and Tejashwi were granted full authority over all major party decisions, solidifying Tejashwi’s position as the future leader of the RJD.

Tejashwi’s New Role

During a key meeting of the RJD National Executive, Lalu Prasad Yadav officially handed over decision-making power to Tejashwi. This includes control over the party’s name, election symbol, and other crucial matters.

Lalu, citing his health issues, urged party members to support Tejashwi fully in his new role. The move is seen as a step toward ensuring a smooth transition of power within the party.

The party constitution was amended to formalise this shift, granting Tejashwi Yadav equal authority in making critical decisions alongside his father. This amendment ensures a seamless leadership transition, marking a new phase for the RJD under Tejashwi’s leadership.

Upcoming Elections And Organizational Changes

As part of the leadership transition, RJD leader Ramchandra Purve has been appointed as the election officer to oversee the organizational elections. The election of the National President is scheduled for July 5, which will formally confirm Tejashwi as the new president.

Additionally, elections for state presidents and other organizational positions will follow, with a state executive meeting set for June 21 to discuss the selection of Bihar’s new state president.

Focusing On Party Reorganization And Strategy

During the National Executive meeting, party leaders discussed strategies to strengthen the RJD’s structure and prepare for upcoming elections. RJD leader Manoj Jha emphasized that the decision to hold organizational elections was aimed at increasing participation from party workers and encouraging young leadership within the party.

This reorganization is seen as part of the party’s efforts to modernize, while still staying true to its core values.

Tejashwi’s Growing Influence

Tejashwi Yadav’s influence within the party has been on the rise. He has played a crucial role in the RJD’s alliance strategy under the INDIA bloc and demonstrated effective leadership during the Bihar Assembly elections. As he prepares to formally take over the party’s leadership, Tejashwi is expected to focus on youth engagement, grassroots mobilization, and addressing key issues such as unemployment and inflation.

With Tejashwi Yadav at the helm, the RJD is poised to enter a new phase, consolidating its position in Bihar and on the national stage. The leadership transition signifies the end of an era dominated by Lalu Prasad Yadav and marks the beginning of a new chapter for the party, as it prepares for the challenges of future elections.
