Tejashwi Yadav Blasts NDA For Mithilanchal’s Underdevelopment

On Saturday, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav sharply criticized the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for failing to develop Mithilanchal, a region in Bihar.

Speaking to the media in Madhubani, Tejashwi, the Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, claimed that despite the support from districts like Darbhanga, Madhubani, and Sitamarhi, the NDA has not delivered on development over the past 20 years.

He highlighted issues such as frequent flooding and significant youth migration, questioning why the NDA government has not addressed these problems. “The lack of effective flood management has left Mithilanchal battered by nature’s fury, leading to substantial migration,” Tejashwi said.

Tejashwi also challenged the NDA on industrial development, asking, “How many industries or food processing units have been established in Mithilanchal?” He promised that if his party comes to power, they would create a Mithilanchal Development Authority (MDA) to ensure comprehensive regional development.

Furthermore, Tejashwi, the former deputy chief minister, criticized both Central and state governments for their policies, which he claims have strained the financial conditions of residents. He noted Bihar’s low per capita income and promised 200 units of free electricity under an RJD government to help alleviate financial pressure.

Additionally, Tejashwi condemned the Nitish Kumar government for complicating the land survey process, which he argues has led to widespread corruption. He said, “The government’s complex rules and poor planning have made it difficult for people to manage their land documentation and facilitated corrupt practices.”

The Bihar Assembly elections are scheduled for 2025.
