The Goods and Services Tax(GST) that subsumed 17 local taxes and fees benefited household items. Taxes on household items including including flour, cosmetics, television, refrigerator etc have reduced.
Sharing a news report on X, PM said for his government reform means the improvement in lives of 140 crore people.
A news report, quoting the data of Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs(CBIC), claimed that reduction in household items has significantly reduced strain on household incomes and improved affordability.

Posting the same report Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote on X that since the GST has come into existence, household goods have become cheaper.
He wrote, “For us, reforms are a means to improve the lives of 140 crore Indians. After the introduction of GST, goods for household use have become much cheaper. This has resulted in significant savings for the poor and common man. We are committed to continuing this journey of reforms to transform people’s lives.”
The report has quoted Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman as well. Finance Minister in the GST council meeting on Saturday said, ““I want to reassure the assessees that our intent is to make GST assessees’ life easier. We are working towards lesser compliance.”
